Jordi Boldó is an abstract painter born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1949. His work comes from Catalonian informalism and explores the tradition of American Abstract Expressionism of the mid-twentieth century, as well as that of some artists of the so-called secession generation. His painting articulates in a rich manner a strong dramatic and passionate language that is powerful in its mystery and delicate in hues. This has been the reason for his being catalogued as "lyric abstractionist " and "romantic painter". He is characterized by a refined and sometimes surprising sense of color and composition, strong textures and a studied skill that is frequently not appreciated at first sight. He has exhibited in museums and galleries in his country, the U.S., Canada, South America and Europe. Granted with several awards and distinctions, he has been jury in several contests. In the present he is part time teacher of painting at university level. He is a member of the National System of Art Creators (2000-2003) and his work is in important public and private collections.
