José Ignacio is a self-taught anatomist with continuing incursions into the abstract. He as published poetry books and was a journalist until 1980 when he dedicated all his skills to the visual arts. His work has shown in museums and has been published in magazines in South America and the US. In the beginning, he approached the landscape in an apparently traditional way but always the smallest form of surprise. One who observes his work of the last months feels forced to review it. We discover not only the domination of the art or a determined technique, but the visual capacity to unravel the hidden images. His paintings reflect personal vision and mythology. Expressionist brushstrokes create figure and movement. Ignacio says, “This work is totally personal and explorative. It is a part of a powerful process that continues to develop.” |
